Calling Artists and Volunteers
We invite Artists and Volunteers to join our remarkable and unique gallery. If you’re an artist looking for gallery space and live in the South East Queensland region who can also volunteer to work in our gallery 1 – 2 days per month, we would welcome your application. All mediums of art styles will be considered. Or perhaps you simply have an interest in art and would like to volunteer to work at our gallery. Our gallery began over 12 years ago and is perfectly positioned in a busy location, on the main highway. Blackbutt is a small country town at the southern gateway to the South Burnett region. It’s currently undergoing exciting transformational change and growth. Recently we became an incorporated, not-for-profit organization which now avails us to grow bigger and better. This new status gives every member an opportunity to contribute to the gallery’s growth. Our objectives are to encourage, disseminate, foster and promote artistic talent in South East Queensland. If you’re interested please apply to Ursula Mackay with examples of your work and discuss our unique rental system. Phone for an appointment on 07 4170 0221 or 0427 630 499. Our address is 38A Coulson Street, Blackbutt |
Despite torrential rain our Wine and Cheese night was a great hit. By wading through flooding gutters, the gallery filled with people creating a most vibrant atmosphere. John Harvey kept the background filled with enjoyable music as the abundant yummy food supplies were consumed. The awesome wine from Moffatdale Ridge was well sampled.
The raffles were drawn and winners went home with bundles of goodies. Campers from Emu Creek were ecstatic winners of Dot's painting, "Poppies". Congratulations!
Our wine and cheese nights are consistently proving to be a hit, so we will do this again soon.

The great news is that the wood fired bakery in Blackbutt has won a major national award! Best overall pie. So those in the know will be heading for Blacbutt to try one. Well! Our gallery is right next door, as seen in the photo on 'home', so all those many bakery aficiondos can come see us too!
Two of the artists whose work is featured in Blackbutt Gallery were winners at the recent Art Festival in Murgon! Val Mc Grath placed first in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island category. And Thelma Archibald's kookaburra was highly commended in Mixed Media.
